Pinty’s Fall Brawl Season Finale at Jukasa

Cole Powell wrapped up his inaugural NASCAR Pinty’s Series season on Saturday evening at Jukasa Speedway near Hamltion. After qualifying second in the #3 Copp’s Buildall / Kubota Canada entry for the Pinty’s Fall Brawl, the stage was set for a solid run. Powell would run inside the top positions for most of the event, leading a lap, and later found himself in a striking position to challenge for the win in the final laps. A late race caution saw him restart on the high side with few laps remaining. The resulting sprint to the finish resulted in him being shuffled him back to sixth place when the checkered flag dropped.

“We had a pretty good day. We unloaded and had a rear end seal that blew, but the guys did a good job getting me out on the track,” said Powell after the event. “I thought I had a good chance of winning the race: sitting second with two laps to go, but the caution came out and I couldn’t get it to go on the outside.”

Finishing fourth in the overall points standings, the 2018 season was a successful one for Powell. The team took home a win during the Western Swing and qualified on the pole when the series visited New Hampshire. In addition, Powell finished inside the top five in eight of the thirteen events: a solid competition record.

“Hopefully I can get something put together for next year because I enjoyed racing in this series,” Powell added. “Now that I have been to all the tracks, I feel we could be a serious threat for a championship.”
