Cole Powell’s #3 Kubota / Copps Buildall entry proved to be a handful on Sunday in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park where he finished fourteenth at the Total Quartz 200.
“I feel like I learned a bunch more this second time back,” said Powell. “Knowing kind of what to expect: but having an ill-handling car really makes things that much harder.”
Although Powell ended up with a mid-pack finish, he had climbed as high as ninth in the race. A piece of debris blocking the air intake on the vehicle caused major difficulties in the late-race as the engine began to overheat. Powell was able to eventually shake the debris loose to open the air intake back up, but the incident damaged his finish.
“I probably could have finished top ten without the debris,” he said. “But that’s racing. Some days it’s your day and some days it’s not. Today wasn’t our day.”
Powell enters the final three events sitting third in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Points standings. With only oval tracks left on the schedule, the team is energized heading into the last events of the year.
“Three ovals left: I’m going to try like hell to win all three.”
The next race for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series is Saturday, September 8 at St. Eustache, Quebec.
