Powell Returns to NASCAR Pinty’s Series for Two-Race Deal

Cole Powell is set to return to competition in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series for the final two races of the 2019 season. The Mt. Brydges, Ontario competitor will be driving a vehicle for DJ Kennington Motorsports at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and at the Jukasa Speedway season finale near Hamilton, Ontario. Tricar Group will be on board supporting Powell for the two-race run, a continuation of their support this past season of his pro-late model competition at selected APC United Late Model series events.

“We were interested in getting back into NASCAR Pinty’s competition after our success last year,” said Powell. “DJ Kennington contacted us and asked if we were interested in running last two races and I said ‘absolutely’”.

DJ Kennington Racing will be fielding a team of four drivers in the final events of the year including Powell, Andrew Ranger, Julia Landauer, and, of course, DJ Kennington. Expectations are high for Powell who has had experience at both tracks that make up the final races: last season he earned the pole position at New Hampshire in the Pinty’s Series and he is fresh off a strong run at Jukasa Speedway in the APC Series.

“Kennington’s team has great equipment,” said Powell. “Everything should be pretty good: their cars are all WMI-built cars and they’ve been doing good all year. I’m excited to get behind the wheel of one of them.”

Powell has kept busy throughout the summer racing season jumping behind the wheel for competition at selected events for the APC United Late Models of Ontario Series, and for one-off events including a Super Late Model event at Toledo Speedway and a dirt-track sprint start at Ohsweken Speedway.

The next race will be this coming Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Visit New Hampshire 100. The following weekend is the Pinty’s Fall Brawl at Jukasa Speedway on Saturday, September 28.
